Job Summary

The Director of Fleet Services is responsible for the preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs needed for diesel and gas vehicles. This position is a management position. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing mechanical repairs & maintenance on company fleet vehicles (diesel and gas) including wheelchair vans and ambulances.

Performing preventative maintenance in a timely manner to reduce costs and prevent vehicle breakdowns.

Updating management of concerns and any potential problems regarding employees or vehicle equipment.

Informing the Operations department of any equipment that needs to be restocked or replaced.

Maintaining a pleasant & professional & co-operative attitude with Clients, departments and co-workers

Reporting to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and completing the entire scheduled shift

Being accountable for all work within the assigned job

Enhancing the Operations department reputation by accepting ownership by accepting new and different work requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

The Director of Fleet Services is required to work two Saturdays or Sundays per month

 

Job Impact

The Director of Fleet Services assists with coordinating and working with outside vendors, parts procurement, and completes work orders for tasks assigned to other fleet staff. He/she participates in sub-committees when asked (i.e.: safety committee, vehicle design committee). They would act as an alternate for orientation as necessary.

 

Job Authority

The Director of Fleet reports to the Chief Operating Officer for the specific Division where applicable. They may issue written reprimands and/or corrective action. 

Qualifications

The Director of Fleet Services must have 4 or more years of increasingly responsible automotive experience in an administrative capacity. Three or more years of Supervisory experience in automotive maintenance and repair and/or vehicular fleet operations; or a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities, along with a working knowledge of repair garage safety. Automotive maintenance and repair experience.
